• His effort was wasted in vain and without result
• His imagination went far : Wandered
• His effort went in vain : His work did not yield any result, and ended without benefit.

سار، مضى ومرّ

🇬🇧 Translation:

Walked, passed and went by.

• تشتَّتوا وتفرَّقوا في كلّ اتِّجاه
• ذهَب، وجاء : كرّر الذهاب والحضور.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• They scattered and dispersed in every direction
• Went and came : Repeated going and coming.

ابتعد وقد يفيد التهديد حين يرد بصيغة الأمر

Moved away, and it may indicate a threat when it comes in the imperative form.

عبارة تهديد، وقد تدلُّ على الاستياء الشديد.

• His strength departed : His state vanished, was overcome, his affair weakened
• Went like the departed yesterday : Disappeared without leaving a trace.

وافقه، طاوعه، جاراه.

Agreed with him, complied with him, went along with him.

قصد قصدَه، وسلك طريقَه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

Intended his intention, and took his path.

رأى فيه رأيًا، وأحدث فيه بدعةً.

Held an opinion in it, and introduced an innovation in it.

قصَده، توجَّه إليه

🇬🇧 Translation:

Intended it, headed to it.

ذهَب رأسًا إليه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

Went straight to him.

أزاله وأضاعه

🇬🇧 Translation:

Removed it and wasted it.

- ذهَبت به الخيلاءُ : أزالته عن وقاره فتمادى في الكبرياء والعُجب.

- Arrogance went away with him : Removed him from his dignity so he persisted in pride and vanity.

انفرد واستقلّ

Isolated and became independent.

فاز

صاحَبه في المُضيّ

Forgot it, did not notice it, and turned away from it.

تركه، وأفلت منه

Left him, and slipped away from him.

اختلط، دخل، تغلغل
