ج دَلَافِينُ : (حن) دُولْفين، درفيل، دارفيل؛ حيوانٌ بحريٌّ لبونٌ من رتبة الحوتيَّات، يعيش في بحار المناطق الحارّة والمعتدلة، يغتذي على الأسماك والقشريّات والرخويّات، قيل : إنّه ينجّي الغريق بتمكينه من ظهره لكي يستعين به على السباحة.

Plural: دَلَافِينُ : (Zoology) Dolphin; a marine mammal of the order Cetacea, living in the seas of tropical and temperate regions, feeding on fish, crustaceans, and mollusks; it is said: it saves a drowning person by letting him use its back to help him swim.
