Fascism; a political and economic ideology founded in Italy, based on single-party dictatorship, suppression of opposition, national and racial fanaticism, glorification of war, state intervention in all manifestations of economic activity, national and vocational enthusiasm, and calling for the establishment of a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader. It was named after an Italian political organization called Fasci established between 1922 and 1945.
