(كم) فَنيك؛ جسم مركّب من الكربون والهيدروجين يحصل من تقطير قطران الفحم الحجريّ؛ وهو صُلب، أبيض اللون ذو رائحة خاصّة يُستعمل مُعقِّمًا ومطهِّرًا وفي صناعة المفرقعات والأصباغ.

(Chemistry) Phenol (carbolic acid); a compound of carbon and hydrogen obtained from the distillation of coal tar; it is solid, white, with a distinct odor, used as a sterilizer and disinfectant, and in the manufacture of explosives and dyes.
