ج حِدْآن وحَدَأ وحِدَأ وحِدَاء : (حن) طائر من الجوارح من فصيلة الصّقور ورتبة الصقريّات، جسمه متوسِّط رشيقٌ، وأجنحته طويلة له ذنبٌ طويل مشقوق ينقضّ على الدَّواجن والجرذان والأطعمة ونحوها، وكنيته (أبو الخُطّاف)

pl. حِدْآن, حَدَأ, حِدَأ, and حِدَاء: Kite (bird), a bird of prey belonging to the falcon family and Falconiformes order. It has a medium, slender body, long wings, and a long, split tail. It swoops down on poultry, rats, food, and the like. Its sobriquet is (Abu Al-Khattaf).
