رجل يُضرب به المَثَلُ في الخيبة والفشل فيقال : رجع بخُفّي حنين.
🇬🇧 Translation:
a man proverbial for disappointment and failure, hence the saying: he returned with the two shoes of Hunain (empty-handed/in complete failure).
وادٍ بين مكّة والطائف وعنده حدثت غزوة حُنَيْن سنة ثمانٍ من الهجرة بعد فتح مكَّة، وكانت بين المسلمين والمشركين وانتهت بالنصر المؤزّر للمسلمين
🇬🇧 Translation:
a valley between Makkah and Taif where the Battle of Hunain took place in the eighth year of the Hijra after the conquest of Makkah, fought between the Muslims and the polytheists and ending in a resounding victory for the Muslims

" {وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ} "

"And on the day of Hunain, when your great numbers pleased you [Quran]"
