جج أحطاب، مف حَطَبَة : كلّ ما جفّ من زرع وشجر وأُعِدَّ لإشعال النَّار

plural of plural: ahtab, singular: hatabah: all dried plants and trees prepared for kindling fire
- يُضرب لمن يزيد حدَّة الخصومة بتدخُّله
- فلانٌ يحمل الحطبَ بين القوم : يمشي بالنَّمائم.
