ج أجفان وأجْفُن وجُفون : غطاء العين من أعلاها وأسفلها، مذكّر ولا يؤنّث
🇬🇧 Translation:
plural: أجفان, أجْفُن, and جُفون: the upper and lower eyelid, masculine and not feminine
- غلَبه النُّعاس
- جفنا الرغيفِ : وجهاه
- جفن السَّيف : غمده
- لا يَغْمَض له جَفْنٌ : لا ينام
- نام ملءَ جَفْنَيه : نام ملءَ عينيه، كان خاليًا من الهمّ
- ندَّ النَّومُ عن أجفاني : ابتعد النَّومُ عنّي.
🇬🇧 Translation:
- sleepiness overcame him
- two sides of the loaf: its two faces
- sword scabbard: its sheath
- not an eyelid closed for him: he did not sleep
- he slept filling his eyelids: he slept fully, free from worry
- sleep fled from my eyelids: sleep moved away from me.
