(طب) أدوية طبِّيَّة كالبنسلين مضادَّة للجراثيم مشتقَّة من الفطر والبكتريا أو غيرهما.

(حي) موادّ تكوِّنها الكائنات الحيَّة الدقيقة كالبكتريا والفطريّات، تُوقف نموّ أنواع مُعيَّنة من البكتريا الضارَّة أو تقتلها.
