ج أعِنَّة : سَيْرُ اللِّجام الذي يُمْسَك به الفَرَسُ ونحوُه كي يُتحكّم في سيره
🇬🇧 Translation:
Plural: a'innah, the rein of a bridle held to control the movement of a horse or the like.
- عزيز لا يقبل الذلّ
- أرخى له العِنانَ : وسَّع له وتساهل معه ولم يضيِّق عليه
- أطلق العِنانَ لساقيه : ركض، جرى بسرعة
- أطلق له العِنانَ : تركه يفعل ما يشاء
- جرتِ الأمورُ في أعنّتها : أخذت مجراها الطبيعيّ وسيرها العاديّ
- ذلّ عِنان فلان : انقاد
- شركة العِنان : التي يتساوى فيها الشريكان بالمال والعمل
- طويل العِنان : كثير المال أو شريف لا يُردّ له طلب لسؤدده وشرفه
- فرسٌ خوَّار العِنان : سريع الجري، سهل الانقياد
- فرسٌ طَوْع العِنان : سهل منقاد
- قَصِير العِنان : قليل المال، ذليل
- يجريان في عِنان : مستويان في الفضل.

- Mighty, refusing humiliation
- He loosened the rein for him: gave him leeway, was lenient, and did not restrict him
- He gave free rein to his legs: ran, sprinted
- He gave him the rein: let him do as he pleased
- Things took their normal course: took their natural and ordinary path
- His rein became humble: he submitted
- Shirkat al-'Inan: a partnership where the two partners are equal in capital and labor
- Long-reined: wealthy or noble, whose request is never denied due to his nobility
- A loose-reined horse: fast running, easily led
- An obedient-reined horse: easily controlled
- Short-reined: having little wealth, abject
- They run in one rein: equal in virtue.
