نفَضَ يَنفُض، نَفْضًا، فهو نافِض، والمفعول مَنْفوض

أزاله وأسقطه

• يُشير إلى معاني الفشل والإخفاق
• نفَض غبارَ الكسل : بدأ في النشاط
• نفَض يديه من الأمر : امتنع عن الاستمرار فيه، تخلّى عنه
• نفَض يدَه من فلان : يئِس منه
• ينفض عن نفسه : يزيل همَّه.

• indicates meanings of failure and disappointment
• shook off the dust of laziness: became active
• washed his hands of the matter: stopped continuing it, gave up on it
• washed his hands of so-and-so: despaired of him
• shakes off his worry.

حرّكه بقوّة ليزولَ عنه ما علق به من الغُبار ونحوه

shook it vigorously to remove dust and the like clinging to it

حرَّكه ليُسقطَ ما عليه? نفضته الحُمَّى : جعلته يرتعد ويرتجف.

shook it to make what is on it fall? (The fever shook him): made him tremble and shiver.
