(فز) عنصر غازيّ إذا أُمِرَّت فيه شرارةٌ كهربائيّة وهو في حالة التخلخُل توهّج بضوءٍ أحمر برتقاليّ يتميّز به عن الغازات الأخرى، وكثيرًا ما يُستعمل في الإعلانات والإشارات الضَّوئيّة، وتُسمّى الأنابيب المضيئة المملوءة بالنِّيون المخلخل : (أنابيب النيون)

(Physics) A gaseous element which, when subjected to an electrical spark under reduced pressure, glows with a red-orange light that distinguishes it from other gases, frequently used in advertisements and luminous signs. Luminous tubes filled with rarefied neon are called: (neon tubes).
