(حن) حشرة سوداء صغيرة، قيل هي صغار الجراد أو السوس، أو الذباب، أو البراغيث، أو القمل المعروف، تركب الحيوان عند الهُزال والوسَخ، وتمتصّ دَمَهُ

(Zoology) A small black insect, said to be young locusts, weevils, flies, fleas, or common lice, which mounts animals when they are emaciated and dirty, and sucks their blood
شيء يقع في الزّرع ليس بجراد، يأكل السُّنبلةَ وهي غضَّة قبل أن تخرج وربّما تكون هي التي تُسمّى الآن : النَّطَّاط

Something that attacks crops other than locusts, eating the ear of grain while it is tender before it emerges, which may now be called the grasshopper
