شوَى يَشوِي، اشْوِ، شَيًّا، فهو شاوٍ، والمفعول مَشْوِيّ

شوَى اللَّحمَ وغيرَه

أنضجَه بالنّار مباشرة وجعلَه صالحًا للأكل

Cooked it with fire directly and made it fit to eat (To roast/grill/broil).

" يشوي السمك
يشوي الذرة على النار الهادئة
{وَإِنْ يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغَاثُوا بِمَاءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ} : يحرقها "

" yashwi as-samaka
yashwi adh-dhurata 'ala an-nari al-hadi'ati
{wa-in yastaghithu yughathu bima'in kal-muhli yashwi al-wujuha} : yahriquha (He grills fish
He roasts corn over a low fire
{And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [roasts] the faces} : burns them). "
