ج شِيكات : (قص) أمر صادر إلى مصرف من شخص له حساب فيه، يكلِّفه بدفع مبلغ من النقود لشخصٍ مُعيَّن، أو لأمر شخصٍ مُعيَّن أو لحامله
🇬🇧 Translation:
Plural: shikat: (Economics) An order issued to a bank by a person who has an account in it, instructing it to pay a sum of money to a specific person, or to the order of a specific person, or to its bearer (Cheque/Check).
- كرَّاسة تضمُّ عددًا من الشِّيكات باسم صاحب الحساب
- شيك بدون رصيد : ليس له غطاء كافٍ يسمح بصرفه
- شيك مُؤشَّر : شيك يتضمَّن علامة سريَّة، أو إشارة تابعة للشَّركة التي أصدرته بحيث لا يمكن تزويره أو قبضه بسهولة
- كتب له شيكًا على بياض : فوّضه في أمر ليتصرّف فيه، شيك لم يُحدَّد فيه المبلغ.
🇬🇧 Translation:
- Checkbook: a booklet containing a number of checks in the name of the account holder
- Bounced check (NSF): does not have sufficient cover to allow it to be cashed
- Crossed check: a check containing a secret mark, or a sign belonging to the company that issued it so that it cannot be easily forged or cashed
- Wrote him a blank check: authorized him in a matter to act as he sees fit, a check in which the amount has not been specified.
