جج أَسْلاف وسُلاّف وسُلُف، مف سالف :

كلّ من تقدّم من الآباء وذوي القرابة في السنِّ أو الفضل

🇬🇧 Translation:

All predecessors among fathers/ancestors and relatives in age or virtue (Ancestors/Predecessors).

الآباء والأجداد المحترمون
السَّلَف والخلف : أهل الإنسان الذين ينحدر منهم وذرَّيته التي تنحدر منه
مذاهب السَّلَف : مذاهب المتقدِّمين.

As-salaf wal-khalaf : a person's family from which he descends and his offspring that descend from him
madhahib as-salaf : the doctrines of the predecessors (Predecessors/Early generations).

كلّ من شغل منصبًا قبل من يشغله حاليًّا

Anyone who held an office before the one currently holding it (Predecessor).

(سف، فق) الذين يثبتون لله تعالى صفات أزليّة ولا يفرِّقون بين صفات الذات وصفات الفعل.

(Philosophy, Jurisprudence) Those who affirm eternal attributes for God Almighty and do not distinguish between the attributes of essence and the attributes of action (The Salaf/Pious Predecessors).
