سمِعَ/ سمِعَ إلى/ سمِعَ لـ يَسمَع، سماعًا وسَمْعًا، فهو سامِع وسميع، والمفعول مَسْموع

أدركه بحاسّة الأذن

Perceived it with the sense of hearing (ears) (To hear).

• غير مقبول ما تقول، اسمع لا أُسمِعْتَ
• رَجُلٌ مسموع الكلمة : مُطاعٌ محتَرم الرَّأي.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• What you say is unacceptable, listen and may you not be heard (reproach)
• Rajulun masmu'u al-kalimati : obeyed and his opinion respected (Whose word is listened to).

تدبَّره، فهم معناه وأدركه

🇬🇧 Translation:

Contemplated it, understood its meaning and realized it (To comprehend/Listen attentively).

أصغى إليه وأنصت

🇬🇧 Translation:

Paid attention to him and listened closely (To listen/Pay attention).

• ألقى السَّمْعَ/ أطرق السَّمْعَ : أنصتَ
• اسمع الطََّرف الآخر : لا يجوز الحكم على أحد دون سماع أقواله.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• Alqa as-sam'a/ atraqa as-sam'a : to listen attentively
• Isma' at-tarafa al-akhara : one must not judge someone without hearing his statements (Listen to the other side).

أطاعه، استجاب له

🇬🇧 Translation:

Obeyed him, responded to him (To obey/Heed).

تقبَّل دعاءَه

🇬🇧 Translation:

Accepted his supplication (To answer a prayer/Accept).
