(نت) نبات مُعَمَّر من فصيلة السَّوْسنيّات، يسمو إلى نحو ستين سنتيمترًا، برِّيّ وزراعيّ، أنواعه عديدة، أوراقه سيفيّة الشَّكل متقابلة، أزهاره كبيرة القدّ لامعة، وهي بحسب الأنواع بنفسجيّة وبيضاء وصفراء وزرقاء، رائحتها ذكيَّة جدًّا تدخل في صناعة العطور.

(Botany) A perennial plant of the Iridaceae family, growing to about sixty centimeters, wild and cultivated, its species are numerous, its leaves are sword-shaped and opposite, its flowers are large and shiny, and depending on the species they are purple, white, yellow, and blue, their scent is very fragrant, used in the manufacture of perfumes (Iris).
