ج أسياف وسُيوف :

Plural: asyaf and suyuf :

سلاح من الفولاذ أو نحوه ذو نصل طويل حادّ يضرب به باليد

🇬🇧 Translation:

A weapon of steel or the like with a long, sharp blade used for striking with the hand (Sword).

لعب به وأداره على جوانبه
بِحدِّ السَّيف : بالقوَّة
بين فكَّيّ فلان سيف صارَّم : إذا كان حديد اللِّسان
سبَق السَّيفُ العَذَلَ [مثل] : يُضرب لما قد فات ولا يُستطاع إدراكُه، قُضِي الأمرُ، فات الأوانُ

(حن) نوع من السَّمك مقدّم رأسه على هيئة السيف.

🇬🇧 Translation:

(Zoology) A type of fish whose head's front is shaped like a sword (Swordfish).

سَيْف حاجز

(جو) جزيرة رمليّة على هيئة لسان، تمتدّ من الشاطئ في البحر، تكوَّنت من موادّ مفكَّكة رسَّبتها الأمواجُ.

(Geology) A tongue-shaped sand island, extending from the shore into the sea, formed from loose materials deposited by the waves (Sandbar/Spit).
