🇬🇧 Translation:
Made him feel joy and happiness so that his face beamed, his lips parted, and he emitted intermittent sounds to express his joy, opposite: made to weep.
يُضرب للشِّدَّة أو المصيبة تأتي في غير حينها وعلى غير وجهها، فيتعجّب منها المبتلى بها ويضحك.

Said of a hardship or misfortune that comes at the wrong time and in the wrong way, causing the afflicted person to be astonished and laugh.
