Passive/reflexive of qabada/qabada 'ala: to gather and fold, contract and shrink, opposite of expand (inbasata).

• انقبضت نفسُه لتوقُّع مكروه : انكمشت غمًّا
• انقبض وجهُه : تغيَّر من خوفٍ أو رهبةٍ أو انفعال.

Money was received, paid, or delivered to its rightful owner.

هجره وامتنع عن الاتِّصال به.

To shun one's friend and refrain from contacting him.

أمسكت وامتنعت عنه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

His hand refrained and held back from work.
