- خالي البال/ خليُّ البال : لا يَشْغله شاغل، مطمئن القلب
- خطر على باله/ خطر في باله : تذكّره بعد نسيان
- راحة البال : طمأنينة النَّفس، خلوّ من الهمِّ
- طويل البال : صبور، كثير الاحتمال
- لا يخطر على البال : بعيد الوقوع، غير معقول
- لم يُلقِ لقوله بالاً : لم ينتبه إليه أو يهتمَّ به
- ما بالك؟ : ما رأيك؟
- ما بالك خائفًا؟ : لماذا؟.

- to remember, think about, expect
- xali al-bal: carefree, peaceful
- xaraṭa 'ala balih: to cross one's mind, remember after forgetting
- raḥatu al-bal: peace of mind, freedom from worry
- ṭawīlu al-bal: patient, enduring
- la yaxṭuru 'ala al-bal: unimaginable, unlikely
- lam yulqi li-qawlihi balan: to pay no attention or heed to it
- ma baluka?: what do you think? / what's wrong with you?
- ma baluka xā'ifam?: why are you afraid?.

- رخيّ البال/ ناعم البال : موفور العيش، هادِئ النَّفس
- ما باله : ما شأنه.
