دَفّة

سُكَّانها؛ آلة في مُؤخّرها تحرّكها يمينًا ويسارًا، صفيحة مفصّلة عموديًّا من المعدن أو ألياف الزُّجاج أو الخشب مثبَّتة في مؤخِّر السفينة لإمالتها من جهة إلى أخرى أو لتوجّه مسارها

Its rudder; a device at its rear that moves it right and left, a vertically hinged plate of metal, fiberglass, or wood affixed to the stern of a ship to incline it from side to side or to direct its course.

وجَّهها، تحكَّم في خطّ مسارها.

Directed it, controlled the course of its path.
