من الأدوات الموسيقيّة تتألَّف من صدفتين مقعَّرتين من العاج أو الخشب الصُّلب تمسَكان براحة اليد بخيط يربط بينهما يوضع خلف الإبهام ويُطقطقان بالأصابع.

A musical instrument consisting of two concave shells made of ivory or hard wood held in the palm of the hand by a string connecting them placed behind the thumb and clicked with the fingers (castanets).
