ج أَحمِرة وحُمْر وحُمُر وحمير، مؤ حِمارة، ج مؤ حمائرُ : (حن) حيوان داجن من الفصيلة الخيليّة يُستخدم للحمل والركوب، ومنه الأهليّ والوحشيّ الذي يكون مخطَّطًا باللّونين الأبيض والأسود

🇬🇧 Translation:

plural: ahmirah, humr, humur, and humayr, feminine: himarah, feminine plural: humayir: (Zoology) a domesticated animal of the equine family used for carrying loads and riding, including domestic ones and wild ones marked with white and black stripes (donkey/ass)

يُضرب للمنكوب الذي ينتعش؛ لأنّ الله أحياه بعد مائة عام من موته.

" He brought a donkey's horns: meaning he came with a lie and falsehood, because a donkey has no horns
He is only a donkey: said of a censured man
The shaykh's donkey stopped at the steep pass: meaning he found the matter difficult, became helpless, or confused
Even if a donkey were to wear silk garments... people would still say, 'What a donkey you are!'
