ظرف للزمان المستقبل يفيد معنى الشرط، ويختصّ بالدخول على الجملة الفعليّة، ويكون فعلا الشرط والجواب بعده مرفوعين، ولا يجزم الفعل بعده إلاّ نادرًا، ويدخل على الأسماء المرفوعة المتبوعة بفعل، ويقترن جوابه بالفاء إذا كان الجواب جملة اسمية أو فعليّة فعلها طلبيّ أو جامد أو مقترن بـ (قد) أو (ما) أو (لن) أو (السين) أو (سوف)

An adverb of future time conveying the conditional meaning 'when/if', specifically preceding verbal sentences. The conditional verb and its response following it are in the nominative case (marfu'), and the verb is rarely jussive after it. It also precedes nominative nouns followed by a verb. Its response must be coupled with the particle fa' if the response is a nominal sentence, an imperative/optative verbal sentence, a rigid (jamid) verb, or coupled with (qad), (ma), (lan), (seen), or (sawfa).

حرف للمفاجأة يختصّ بالدخول على الجملة الاسمية ولا يجيء في أولّ الكلام، ومعناه الحال لا الاستقبال، وفي هذه الحالة لايحتاج إلى جواب

" إذا حضر محمَّد فأكرمه
إذا الشَّعْب يومًا أرادَ الحياة … فلابدَّ أن يستجيب القدر
{إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْْ}
{وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الْمُنْكَرَ} "

"If Muhammad attends, honor him
If the people one day desire life... then destiny must respond
{When the sky has split open} [Quran]
{And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, you will recognize in the faces of those who disbelieved disapproval} [Quran]."
