كوَى يَكوِي، اكْوِ، كيًّا، فهو كاوٍ، والمفعول مَكْوِيّ

كوَى الطبيبُ العُضْوَ المريضَ

أحرقهُ بحديدة مُحماة ونحوها؛ أحرقه بآلة ساخِنة

🇬🇧 Translation:

Cauterized the diseased limb with a heated iron or the like; burned it with a hot instrument.

يضرب في آخر ما يعالج به الأمر بعد اليأس منه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

Proverb: Applied to the last resort of treatment after despairing of other methods.

كوَى الثَّوْبَ

أمرَّ عليه المِكْواةَ؛ ليصْبح أملسَ بدون ثنيّات، ملَّسه بالمكواة.

🇬🇧 Translation:

Ironed the garment; passed an iron over it so that it becomes smooth without creases, pressed it.

كوَتِ العقربُ فلانًا

لدغَتْهُ.

🇬🇧 Translation:

Stung someone.

كوَى فلانًا بعينه

أحدَّ إليه النظر

🇬🇧 Translation:

Stared intently at someone.

" من لم يصلحه الكلامُ أصلحه الكيّ
{يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ} "

" من لم يصلحه الكلامُ أصلحه الكيّ (He whom words do not mend, cauterization will mend)
{يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَى بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ} (The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and burn therewith their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs) "
