دعامة رأسيَّة، قضيبٌ من حديد ونحوه

ما تسند إليه الأسلاك الكهربائيَّة الهوائيَّة
العمود من الإعصار : ما يسطع في السماء
عمود الأذن : ما ارتفع فوق الشحمة فتثبت عليه الأذن
عمود الأمر : قوامه الذي لا يستقيمُ إلاّ به
عمود القلب : وسطه
عمود اللِّسان : وسطه طولاً
عمود الميزان : ما يعلَّق بطرفيه، كفَّتاه.

Pillar of the ear: what rises above the lobe where the ear is fixed
The backbone of a matter without which it is not straightened
The center of the heart
The middle of the tongue lengthwise
The beam of a scale: what is suspended at both ends with its pans.

سيِّد يعتمد عليه في الأمور.

A master relied upon in matters.

قضيب من الخرسانة أو الخشب أو الفولاذ، يزيد طوله عشر مرّات على طول قطره، لتحمُّل قوّة ضغط المباني والأرصفة البحريَّة والمنشآت الأخرى.

🇬🇧 Translation:

A rod of concrete, wood, or steel, whose length exceeds ten times its diameter, to withstand compressive forces in buildings, marine docks, and other structures.

(شر) عِرْق يسقي الكبد، عرق في البطن يمتدّ من عند الرُّهابة إلى ما تحت السُّرّة.

A blood vessel supplying the liver, a vessel in the abdomen extending from the xiphoid process to below the navel.

(هس) خطّ مستقيم قائم على خط آخر مثله ويُحدث عن جانبيه زاويتين متساويتين.

A straight line perpendicular to another like line, forming two equal angles on its sides.

عمود فَقَريّ

(حي) سلسلة الظّهر في الإنسان والحيوانات الفقّاريّة، وهي تدعم بنيان الجسم وتحمي الحبل الشَّوكيّ.
