مَدْفن، مكان يُدْفَنُ فيه الميّتُ
🇬🇧 Translation:
Grave, a place where the dead are buried.
- تسبَّب في هلاك نفسه
- رِجْلهُ في القبر : كناية عن كبر سنِّه أو مرضه الشَّديد
- عذاب القبر : مرحلة وسطى بين الدُّنيا والآخرة يُحاسَب فيها الإنسانُ بعد موته ودفنه تسمى البرزخ
- قبْر الجنديّ المجهول : نُصُب تُقيمه الدَّولة لتخليد شهدائها في الحرب
- كان على حافَّة قبره : كان على وشك الموت، في وضع خطير أو قريب من الهلاك
- كان كالخارج من قَبْر : كانت نُذُر الموت على وجهه.

- He brought about his own destruction
- One foot in the grave: a metaphor for advanced age or severe illness
- Torment of the grave: an intermediate stage between this world and the Hereafter where a person is called to account after death and burial, called Barzakh
- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: a monument erected by the state to immortalize its war martyrs
- On the edge of the grave: on the verge of death, in a dangerous position or close to ruin
- Like one coming out from the grave: the signs of death were on his face.
