قرَأَ يَقرَأ، قِراءةً وقُرْآنًا، فهو قارئ، والمفعول مَقْروء

تتبَّع كلماته نظرًا، نطق بها أوْ لا

To follow its words visually, whether uttering them or not

• قرأ كتبَ العقاد وطه حسين
• قرأ علامات الغضب على وجهه : لاحظها فِراسةً أو عادة.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• He read the books of Al-Aqqad and Taha Hussein
• He read the signs of anger on his face: Noticed them through intuition or habit.

جمعه وضمَّه

🇬🇧 Translation:

To gather and join it together

تلاها؛ نطق بها عن نظر أو عن حِفْظ

🇬🇧 Translation:

To recite it; utter it by looking at the text or from memory

حفظًا دون كتاب.

🇬🇧 Translation:

From memory without a book.

تكهَّنَ به

🇬🇧 Translation:

To divine or prophesy it

• قرَأ للمستقبل حسابَه : احتاط له
• قرَأ ما بين السُّطور : فهم الأمرَ المضمر، استشفّ المعنى الضِّمنيّ.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• Qara'a lil-mustaqbali ḥisābahu: To prepare for it
• Qara'a mā bayna al-sufūr: To read between the lines, understand the hidden matter, infer the implicit meaning.

أبْلَغَهُ إيَّاه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

To convey greetings to him.

دَرَسه على يديه.

🇬🇧 Translation:

To study it under his tutelage.
