ج عِقام وعُقَماءُ، مؤ عقيم وعقيمة، ج مؤ عقائِمُ وعُقُم :

Pl. عِقام ('iqām) and عُقَماءُ ('uqamā'), fem.: عقيم ('aqīm) and عقيمة ('aqīmah), fem. pl.: عقائِمُ ('aqā'im) and عُقُم ('uqum):
صفة مشبَّهة تدلّ على الثبوت من عقُمَ : من لا يُنجب، ويُطلق على الذكر والأنثى
🇬🇧 Translation:
An assimilated adjective (ṣifah mushabbahah) denoting permanence from 'aquma: One who cannot procreate; used for both male and female.
ما لا خير فيه ولا طائل تحته
🇬🇧 Translation:
That which holds no good or benefit.
- لا فائدة منه ولا جدوى
- حَرب عقيم : شديدة فتّاكة ليس فيها غالب ولا مغلوب
- خيال عقيم/ فكر عقيم : لا إبداع فيه
- عقلٌ عقيم : غير منتج ولا ينفع صاحبَه، لا خير فيه.
🇬🇧 Translation:
- Of no use or avail
- حَرب عقيم (Barren/futile war): fierce, destructive, with neither victor nor vanquished
- خيال عقيم/ فكر عقيم (Barren imagination/thought): lacking creativity
- عقلٌ عقيم (Barren mind): unproductive, of no benefit to its owner, devoid of good.
