(حي) كل سمّ ينتجه ويفرزه النبات أو الحيوان فضلة أيضيَّة، فإذا ما سبّب توكسين الطفيليات مرضًا في المُضِيف فإن هذا المُضِيف يقابل فعل التوكسين بإنتاج أجسام مضادة، تسمى (مضادات التوكسين) .
