(كم) عنصر فلزيّ أبيض ضارب إلى الزُّرقة يكون صُلبًا في درجة الحرارة العاديّة، يصدأ عند تعرُّضه للهواء الرّطب فيصبح رماديًّا، قابل للسّحب والطّرق، موصّل للحرارة والكهرباء، تستخدم مركّباته في الطلاءات ومبيدات الحشرات والأدوية، ويسمَّى النوع غير النقيّ منه خارصين.

(Chemistry) A bluish-white metallic element that is solid at ordinary temperatures, rusts when exposed to moist air becoming gray, ductile and malleable, a conductor of heat and electricity. Its compounds are used in paints, insecticides, and medicines, and its impure type is called spelter (Zinc).
