حافَة

حافَّته، طرَفُه وجانبُه

Its edge, extremity, and side

• يكاد الخرابُ ينزل به
• على حافَة الهاوية : على وشك السّقوط فيها، في وضع خطير أو قريب من الهلاك
• يجرُّه إلى حافة الهاوية : يؤدِّي به إلى الدّمار.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• On the verge of ruin
• On the brink of the abyss: On the verge of falling into it, in a dangerous situation or close to destruction
• Dragging him to the brink of the abyss: Leading him to ruin.

(سة) الوصول في أزمات العلاقات الدوليّة إلى حافَة الحرب دون تجاوز هذه الحافَة.

(Politics) Bringing international relations crises to the brink of war without crossing that brink (Brinkmanship).
