حافَة

حافَّته، طرَفُه وجانبُه

Its edge, extremity, and side

• يكاد الخراب ينزل به
• على حافَة الهاوية : على وشك السّقوط فيها، في وضع خطير أو قريب من الهلاك
• يجرُّه إلى حافة الهاوية : يؤدِّي به إلى الدّمار.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• On the verge of ruin
• On the edge of the abyss: On the brink of falling into it, in a dangerous situation or close to destruction
• Drags him to the edge of the abyss: Leads him to destruction.

(سة) الوصول في أزمات العلاقات الدوليّة إلى حافَة الحرب دون تجاوز هذه الحافَة.

(Politics) Reaching the edge of war in international relations crises without crossing that edge (Brinkmanship).
