ج حَرابيُّ، مؤ حرباءة : (حن) دُوَيْبَّة من الزَّواحف ذات قوائم أربعة، دقيقة الرأس، مخطَّطة الظَّهر، لها عينان كبيرتان، تحرِّك كُلّ واحدة في اتِّجاه يختلف عن اتِّجاه الأخرى، تستقبل الشَّمس نهارَها وتدور معها كيف دارت، وتتلوَّن ألوانًا مختلفة، ويُضرب بها المثلُ في الحزم والتلوّن
🇬🇧 Translation:
pl. ḥarābī, fem. ḥarbā'ah: (Zoology) A small reptile with four legs, a slender head, a striped back, and two large eyes, each moving in a direction independent of the other, facing the sun during the day and turning with it wherever it goes, changing into various colors, and used as a proverbial example for cunning and changing colors
