قام من جلوسٍ، قام على رجليه

To rise from a sitting position, stand on one's feet

• قوي بعد ضعف، نهض، استقلّ وأصبح مسئولاً عن نفسه
• وقَف بعيدًا/ وقَف متفرِّجًا/ وقَف جانبًا : لم يُشارك في الأمر
• وقَف على باب فلان : طلب عونه، مساعدته.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• To grow strong after weakness, arise, become independent and responsible for oneself
• وقَف بعيدًا/ وقَف متفرِّجًا/ وقَف جانبًا : To stay away / stand as a spectator / stand aside: not to participate in the matter
• وقَف على باب فلان : To ask for his help or assistance.

سكَن بعد مشي وحركة

🇬🇧 Translation:

To stop after walking and moving

• عجز عن التصرّف
• وقَف الصديقان صفًّا واحدًا : اتّحدوا، اتّفقوا
• وقَف بالمرصاد/ وقَف له بالمرصاد : ترقّب
• وقَف على الحياد : لم يتحيَّز إلى طرف على حساب آخر
• وقَف مُحَرِّك الكهرباء : تعطَّل.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• To be helpless or unable to act
• وقَف الصديقان صفًّا واحدًا : The two friends stood as one: they united and agreed
• وقَف بالمرصاد/ وقَف له بالمرصاد : To lie in wait / watch closely for him
• وقَف على الحياد : To remain neutral, favoring no side over another
• وقَف مُحَرِّك الكهرباء : The electric motor broke down / stopped working.

فزِع، خاف خوفًا شديدًا.

🇬🇧 Translation:

His hair stood on end; he was terrified, extremely frightened.

منعه، حال بينه وبين ما يريد

🇬🇧 Translation:

To prevent him, stand between him and what he wants

سلك معه مسلكًا معينًا، عامله بطريقة خاصّة? وقَف موقفًا من.

🇬🇧 Translation:

To take a certain stance toward someone, treat him in a special way? وقَف موقفًا من.

ساعَده، قوَّاه، سانده? وقَف معه/ وقَف وراءه/ وقَف خلفه : قوّاه، أيّده، سانده، ساعده.

🇬🇧 Translation:

To stand by the oppressed: helped him, strengthened him, supported him? وقَف معه/ وقَف وراءه/ وقَف خلفه : Strengthened him, backed him, supported him, helped him.

شهد وقتها.

🇬🇧 Translation:

The pilgrim stood (performed Wuquf) at Arafat during its designated time.

عرفه أو عاينه، أدركه، فهمه وتبيّنه

🇬🇧 Translation:

To discover or witness a secret, perceive, understand and grasp it clearly

(نح) نطق بها مسكَّنة الآخر قاطعًا لها عمَّا بعدها.

🇬🇧 Translation:

(Grammar) To pronounce a word with a quiescent (sukūn) final letter, disconnecting it from what follows.

ارتاب فيها.

🇬🇧 Translation:

To doubt or be uncertain about the matter.

عارضه، قاومه، حال بينه وبين ما يريد

🇬🇧 Translation:

To oppose him, resist him, stand between him and what he wants

• وقَف حجر عثرة في طريقه : اعترضه، عاق تقدُّمَه
• وقَف موقفًا ملؤُهُ الحزم : اشتدّ في الأمر وتعامل معه بصلابة.

🇬🇧 Translation:

• وقَف حجر عثرة في طريقه : To be a stumbling block in his path, hinder his progress
• وقَف موقفًا ملؤُهُ الحزم : To take a firm and resolute stance, dealing with a matter with firmness.
